Yeah, it's pretty just manual unless you get some farmer villagers...

You need farmer villagers, though I’m not sure if it still works in 1.14

you can use farmer villagers in 1.14, you just need to place composters so they turn into farmers (and beds if you're in survival)

If it's sugarcane it doesn't need seeds, just don't break the bottom block. Otherwise farmer villagers are the only way. That said is you did a pumpkin or melon setup you wouldn't need to sow the multiple times because they can produce an endless number of fruits.

@DarthKoon05 if it's an automatic farm then you shouldn't break the bottom block, but the block right above it. use an observer and piston setup.
