The Block Of Copper is a new, decorative block in Minecraft that is planned to be added in update 1.17.
Overview[]
The block of copper's use will be as a building block and storage block. It has shiny orange color when first crafted; however, when left for too long (50–82 days per stage), it slowly tarnishes to a prismarine-like green.
Each stage can be mined up to collect or wax. They each have different names: Block of copper, exposed copper, weathered copper, and oxidized copper.
They can be waxed to prevent them from oxidizing. To wax them, players can craft them with a honeycomb, dispense honeycombs onto them using a dispenser(BE only), or right click them with a honeycomb in hand(BE only).

Trivia[]
- Blocks of copper, as well as all other copper blocks, are the only mineral blocks that age over time after being placed.
- As of snapshot 20w45a, "Waxed Lightly Weathered Cut Copper Stairs" is the longest item name in the game with 41 characters including spaces.
- Copper blocks were previously crafted with 9 copper ingots, but as of snapshot 20w46a, they are crafted with only 4 copper ingots.
