- For the article on the decorative block, see Block of Amethyst.
Budding Amethyst is a block that was announced during Minecraft Live 2020, and will be added in the 1.17 - Caves and Cliffs update. It can be found in the amethyst geode structure, in caves. It cannot be obtained in survival like command blocks and structure blocks. This block grows amethyst clusters on it overtime, much like crops do. The amethyst clusters and buds can only grow on top of this block if it is not blocked off by another block.
Mining[]
Budding Amethyst can be mined faster with a pickaxe, however it will not drop itself.
