Dead Coral Fans are the dead variants of the coral fans.

Coral fans – alive and dead – naturally generate in coral reef structures.
When bonemeal is used in warm ocean biomes, it has a chance of generating coral fans.
Coral fans must be placed in water to stay alive; otherwise, they will transform into their dead counterparts.
