Gold ingots are metal ingots used to craft various items and are used as currency for bartering with piglins.
Sources[]
Gold Ingots are typically obtained by smelting gold ore or nether gold ore. Nine gold nuggets can be crafted into one gold ingot, and a gold block can be crafted into nine gold ingots.
Zombified Piglins have a 2.5% chance of dropping a gold ingot when killed; Drowned have a chance of dropping a gold ingot when killed (5% in Java Edition, 11% in Bedrock Edition).
Gold ingots can be found as treasure in the loot chests of dungeons, abandoned mineshafts, bastion remnants, buried treasure, Desert Pyramids, end cities, Jungle Temples, Ruined Portals, shipwrecks, strongholds, villages, and Woodland Mansions.
Uses[]
Gold ingots can be used to craft armor, weapons, and tools. Gold armor is typically impractical. While it offers slightly more protection than leather armor, it has very low durability. Similarly, a gold sword deals the same damage as a wooden sword, but it has lower durability.
Gold tools can break a block faster than any other tool material, but it's not necessary to craft as gold tools are very fragile. They can perform any task their wooden tool equivalent can, but gold is much harder to come by than wood, which makes them somewhat impractical.
Gold tools, swords, and armor tend to receive better enchantments than their counterparts.
Cleric villagers will trade by buying gold ingots in exchange for emeralds. Piglins accept gold ingots as part of bartering and in exchange provide the player with a random item.
Gold ingots, like iron ingots, diamonds, netherite ingots, and emeralds, can be used to select potion effects on a beacon and give them to a player.

Trivia[]
- Before Beta 1.2, gold tools had both low speed and durability. Currently, gold tools have a higher speed than netherite and can break blocks about twice as fast as wood tools.
- Because it's a rare drop by certain mobs, gold ingots are considered a renewable resource.
- In Minecraft: Pocket Edition, gold ingots were previously required to make the Nether Reactor Core structure. It required 36 golden ingots (all crafted into blocks). However, this feature has now been removed from the game.
- Gold tools have almost half the durability of wooden tools, with gold ones having 33, and wooden ones having 59.
