An illager captain (or raid captain) is a variant of an illager. It carries a banner decorated with a unique illager pattern that has a pillager face design on it. They can be found leading illager patrols, captaining pillager outposts, and leading other illagers in raids. Killing a captain applies 1-3 levels of Bad Omen to the player, triggering a raid the next time the affected player enters a village. A raid can not be started in an Abandoned Village.
Spawning[]
Illager patrols[]
One raid captain always spawns as part of an illager patrol, either a pillager or vindicator.
Raids[]
A raid captain will spawn as part of a group of raiding pillagers, and sometimes spawn riding a ravagers. The captain will not cause another raid if killed, but when its banner drops, other illagers will rush to grab it.
Pillager outposts[]
Usually, 1 to 3 raid captains will also spawn in a pillager outpost - these are always pillagers.
Woodland mansions[]
Raid captains can also spawn in woodland mansions, which are either vindicators or evokers.
Trivia[]
- Only one illager patrol can spawn per raid.
- Aside from pillager outposts, killing an illager captain is the only way to obtain an illager banner.
- Though illusioners are unused, they can also be spawned as a raid captain.
