A plugin (or a multiplayer plug-in) is an additive file for a Minecraft multiplayer server. Plugins are often used to change certain aspects of the game, such as adding user rankings, or the addition of a "factions" game mode. Plugins do not change the game itself, as a mod does. After a plugin is installed on a server, it can be found on the "help" page by typing /help
.
List of Plugins[]
There are lots of plugins for multiplayer servers to use. Below is a list of a few plugins.
Economy Plugin[]
The economy plugin creates a money system that players can earn and they can use the money to buy items using signs that act as a shop and when a player clicks on the sign it will give the item to them and use the money.
Groups Plugin[]
This plugin helps categorize players on a multiplayer server. For example, server owners can set a user's group using /setgroup <name> <group>
and can create groups using /addgroup
as well as using the starter groups like "Guest", "Member", "Builder", "Mod", "Admin", "CoOwner" and "Owner". Server owners can make custom groups using the /addgroup
command to add a group to their character. Groups can also appear in chat as [GroupName] in front of the user's name.
Factions Pro[]
"Factions Pro" is a well-known plugin that includes factions. Factions is a multiplayer Minecraft mini-game that is used on servers and is based around creating teams and fighting other factions. There are some basic Factions Pro commands such as /f create <Faction>
(create a new faction) or /f del
(delete current faction).
Power Tools[]
The "Power Tools" plugin is a plugin that lets players assign certain commands to any item that is activated when right-clicking. Certain commands can include "Thor" (summons lightning in the direction a player is facing), "Fireball" (shoots a ghast fireball), and "Jump" (teleports a player in the direction they are facing). This plugin is a favorite with many administrators in servers. To make an item a power tool, simply type in command when holding the item of the player's choice. The command is /pt <Function>
.
Prison[]
The "Prison" plugin is where you mine in resettable mines and then sell the items to signs to earn money to rank up to use new mines. You can also use "Tokens" to upgrade your pickaxe with /pick. As you rank up, ranking up costs more money. Many people find Prison a very laid back Plugin to use.
