A Poisonous Potato is a type of potato that has a 60% chance of poisoning the player. They can be obtained by either harvesting potato crops, which will have a 2% chance of dropping, by killing a zombie, or by finding them in stacks of 2-6 in shipwrecks, which will be found in 45% of their supply chests.

Mechanics[]

A poisonous potato can't be baked or planted like a normal potato, nor do they have a use with the composter. When eaten, it can cause rapid damage to a player (similar to a spider eye, though not as dangerous). A poisonous potato has a 60% chance of poisoning a player for 5 seconds.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being poisonous, the poisonous potato heals more hunger than a normal potato does (Half Shank).
  • Farmer villagers can have a poisonous potato upon the harvest of a potato crop. They will only disregard it, however.
  • Accurate to the sprite appearance, the color of the poisonous potato is light green. It is because of long term exposure to sunlight (though that won't happen during gameplay) the potato will produce chlorophyll (a harmless color pigment found in almost every plant) that gives it the green coloration and a toxin known as solanine. Solanine is a mild toxin that causes nausea and intestinal problems. Consuming large amounts of the toxin can result in nerve damage. [1]
