Prismarine is a stone-like material that only appears underwater in Ocean Monuments. The name was chosen because it sounded good, referenced its shimmery texture (prism), referenced water (marine), and was not existent in real life.[1]
Overview[]
This "regular" variety of prismarine is one of three possible variants, the others being Dark Prismarine and Prismarine Bricks. The texture of a prismarine block is similar to that of Cobblestone, except it is colored green, and includes an animated effect across its surface: its cracks change between green, blue, purple, and indigo. The full cycle takes about 5 1⁄2 minutes.
As of 1.13, it can be used to craft prismarine slabs and prismarine stairs.

Trivia[]
- Prismarine is entirely fictional. However, it looks oddly similar to real-life aquamarine.
- It is possible to find prismarine in Underwater Ruins which were added in 1.13.
- Prismarine's texture slowly changes color which can be seen if prismarine is looked at closely.
- It's hard to notice as it is one of the slowest animations of all the animated blocks.
- Its blast resistance is similar to that of Stone.
